Our Data Center Server System solution provides a robust design with high performance, flexibility, reliability, and security. It is built upon open standard technologies and makes use of best-of-breed Internet technologies to ensure future expandability at low costs.
Our solution utilizes Microsoft .NET XML architecture while incorporating a sophisticated RDBMS for Online Transaction Processing (OLTP), as well as Online Analytical Processing (OLAP). Our solution provides reliability through carefully chosen components, designs, and multiple backup systems. For example, with our system, there are always two methods of communication access. Our online data storage solution is redundant within itself, having multiple hot-swap hard disks in a RAID-5 architecture and dedicated software systems designed to minimize any hard disk failure. On the database side, we use advanced features of the MS SQL Server to provide for advanced replication of OLTP data. In addition, it supports database clustering to provide a scalable system which can effectively use multiple mid-range Intel-based servers instead of a single, expensive high-end server to provide high performance and greater reliability than ever before.
The main critical factor that affects network operations costs is throughput. Our central system is referred as the Tech Center Server System. If the Tech Center Server System main database (DB) is unavailable, without a local station server, the test systems technician must perform manual entry of all data. But manual data entry in a centralized environment can be devastating as it relates to customer wait times and convenience. Based on our experience, it is simply not enough to perform transaction processing from a centralized test lane to the main DB through a dedicated T-1 connection. When considering thousands of tests, long transaction times between the test lane and the Tech Center Server System over the WAN can be costly to the program. If the WAN connection goes down, in absence of a local station server, the test lane technician must perform manual data entry.
Understanding these types of issues, SysTech implemented at each station a local server consisting of a MS SQL standard edition database running on MS 2003 Server Operating System (OS). In this manner, the test lane communicates to the local station server over the fast 1000mbps LAN. If the station server goes down, the main DB can be used over the WAN only in failover mode. Our network is designed for high-speed real-time updates between each test site and the Tech Center Server System. Our station server, at every facility, allows for very high speed transaction processing between the test system and the station OLTP database over the 1000mpbs LAN connection. The station server will perform all transactional processing functions required by the test lane, including but not limited to:
Insertion of new test records
Insertion of other new records: Calibration, Audit, Inspector ID, Lockout
