INSPECTION ANALYZER TRANSACTION PROCESSING WITH REAL-TIME DATA TRANSMISSION

For the Rhode Island VID, we designed and implemented a custom transactional processor application, where VID folders are used to facilitate data transfer with the client side test systems. Client side test systems connect to the HCS using Windows NT Remote Access Services over TCP/IP, and transfer files into their designated folders. Only predefined, authenticated systems are allowed remote access services.

The custom transactional processor application detects unprocessed files in the VID folders, and then performs all database interactions necessary to process the files. All database interactions from the application flow through the transactional processor application. The application system contains an extensive logging function (transaction log, error log, security log, etc.) for use in system audits, security support, anomaly investigation, and more.

Data transfer functions include vehicle and previous test data (using data from Polk VINA lookup/VIN decode and previous inspection data), lockout data, inspector data, calibration data, station data, audit data, repair data, accounting data, network-wide configuration parameters (such as inspection pass/fail standards), and other data.
