On July 1, 2007 SysTech International started the operation of the centralized vehicle emission inspection program in Metro Nashville.
The Inspection and Maintenance Program Management Contract includes refurbishing of 6 existing facilities, the development, installation and maintenance of a new Vehicle Inspection Database (VID) System, new OBD/4-gas analyzers, state-of-the-art gas cap testers and 6 new mobile testing vans.
SysTech acquired the six stations that were used in Metro Nashville by the previous contractor after SysTech was selected in a competitive bid process by the Metro City Council.
SysTech International is currently implementing a new technology that monitors the customer load at each of six stations, additional operating bays to shorten the wait at three facilities, and the upgrading all of the inspection stations from an appearance and landscaping standpoint.
Details about other improvements include:
The installation of license plate reading machines at each station to monitor customer waiting times. Currently being installed, the machines will read the plates on a vehicle as it enters the station and thereby start a clock to monitor the customer's waiting time. The clock would stop when an attendant gathers the motorist's vehicle information and starts the test.
SysTech plans to eventually provide up-to-the-minute waiting time information over the Internet so customers can check to see how busy a station is before they drive to the location for a test.
The acceptance of checks and credit cards expands a system that for nearly two decades has accepted only cash from customers.
The institution of a hotline system where customers can call for information, offer suggestions or to complain about problems.
SysTech International is an I/M program management company and a leading provider of vehicle emission inspection test equipment and Vehicle Inspection Database (VID) Systems with installations in many states, such as California, Washington, Oregon, Utah, Missouri, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Bermuda and others.
