SysTech International to implement 24/7 OBD Kiosk and Remote OBD System in Oregon
After the successful launch of SysTech’s new Centralized Emission Inspection Equipment and Vehicle Inspection Database in the State of Oregon earlier this year, SysTech received a Notice to Proceed with two new technologies that will prepare Oregon’s I/M Program for an exciting future in I/M testing. Both technologies will be the first of their kind in the U.S. to be regularly utilized as part of a vehicle inspection program and they will undoubtedly set the stage for other States.
SysTech’s 24/7 OBD Kiosk uses a touch screen, camera, document image scanner and many other innovative features. Similar to an ATM the motorist is guided through the inspection, without a certified inspector's intervention. The motorist independently performs the emission test and pays for the test with his credit card. At the end of the test a certificate will be printed and the test is complete. The Kiosk is equipped with access to an interactive helpdesk allowing the motorists to communicate with a live person should any questions arise.
SysTech’s Remote OBD System provides the motorists with an option to participate in the inspection program without the need to ever visit the inspection stations. This product combines wireless technology with On Board Diagnostic emission inspection testing and offers tremendous advantages to motorists and the Department of Environmental Quality, Vehicle Inspection Program (DEQ-VIP). The system is designed to allow the motorist the option to either send test records from their PC via the Internet or transmitted records every time the vehicle passes by hot spots strategically located within the emission inspection area. When a failing condition is detected motorists will receive an automated email notification or letter, stating details of the detected problem and other valuable diagnostic information, including a notice how to correct it. More details will be available through the program’s soon to be launched website: www.remoteobd.com. By participating in the Remote OBD program, motorists save significant time and gain diagnostic information about their vehicle. Oregon intends to provide the Remote OBD Vehicle Links to participating motorists for a one-time fee of $50.00.
“The implementation of the 24/7 OBD Kiosk and of Remote OBD are an important step in establishing our company as the technological leader in the industry” stated Lothar Geilen, President of SysTech International. “We very much appreciate the partnership with DEQ-VIP in the commercialization of these products.”
“When we contracted with SysTech International our expectations in technological leadership were quite high” said Ted Kotsakis, Program Manager at DEQ-VIP. “Working with SysTech allows us to define the future of I/M testing now.”
